November 8 (Renewables Now) – Wholesale energy marketer Shell Energy North America (US) LP (SENA) will be the sole off-taker of the 200-MW Sandrini solar park in California after signing a 15-year contract with EDP Renewables North America LLC (EDPR NA).
Under the terms of the newly-signed power purchase agreement (PPA), SENA will also buy 100% of the environmental attributes associated with the project, including the renewable energy credits and capacity, according to the announcement.
Portuguese utility EDP (ELI:EDP) unveiled the signing of the contract in late October, but did not mention the names of the off-taker or the project.
The particular solar plant will be built near Bakersfield in Kern County at a total cost of more than USD 200 million (EUR 181m). It is expected to be completed in 2022 at which point it will be able to produce enough power to cover the annual consumption of over 91,000 average California homes.
