Acciona inks deal with Tenaska to acquire 4 GW of US solar, storage

October 21 (Renewables Now) – Spanish group Acciona SA (BME:ANA) has signed an agreement with Omaha, Nebraska-based energy company Tenaska to acquire 3,000 MW of utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects and a 1-GW battery storage development portfolio across the US.

The capacity is distributed between 20 projects located in the US states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri, within the area of the PJM Interconnection and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) transmission markets, Acciona said Monday.

The Spanish renewable energy company plans to commission the first eight projects, with some 1,200 MW of rated capacity, before the end of 2023. Tenaska, through its solar unit Tenaska Solar Ventures, will work with Acciona to finalise the development of the projects.

Acciona has more than 1,245 MW of wind power assets installed or under construction in North America, in addition to owning and operating a concentrated solar power (CSP) plant near Las Vegas.
